I like crafts and I like cats, so of course I was so excited to own Dumpling Cats by Sarah Sloyer. Because who doesn’t love little, cute, crochet cats!

What’s it about?:
Dumpling Cats contains instructions to crochet 25 super cute cats, as well as accessories like food bowls and a cardboard box. As an introduction to each pattern is a story about the cat, it’s personality and why some of them are wearing a costume!

Tried and tested:
I decided to make Daisy Cat who has flower petals around her face! Each pattern does have yarn suggested, but I just used the Double Knitting yarn that I already had and found no problems. The patterns in Dumpling Cats are written in US terms and there is a glossary of these in the front of the book. So although it’s a bit of a hassle remembering to convert the crochet stitches to UK terms, it wasn’t difficult. Overall, I found the pattern easy to follow and I love the finished Daisy Cat!

Final thoughts:
If you love cute kawaii cats, you need this book in your life! I wouldn’t recommend this book if you are a crochet beginner as the 3D-ness of it makes it a bit tricky. (I recommend Crochet Therapy by Betsan Corkhill for beginners) But if you have made amigurumi before, you will be absolutely fine! The only extra supply you will need is some safety eyes, but these are easy to use. I will be using Dumpling Cats to make little gifts for my cat loving friends, because who doesn’t love a handmade gift?
If you don’t like cats, there’s also Dumpling Pups or if you can’t crochet, there’s a Dumpling Cats Colouring Book both by Sarah Sloyer.
